Ca. Valotto et Dg. Lambas, DISTRIBUTION OF GALAXIES AROUND CLUSTERS - TEMPERATURE AND VELOCITY DISPERSION DEPENDENCE, Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 277(3), 1995, pp. 896-900
We perform a cross-correlation analysis of galaxy counts on Lick maps
and rich clusters of galaxies with measured temperatures T and velocit
y dispersions sigma. We find that galaxy density excesses up to simila
r to 20 Mpc from cluster centres are increasing linear functions on si
gma and T with a statistically significant detection (> 99.99 per cent
confidence determined by the method of resampling). Adopting a power-
law model for the cluster-galaxy cross-correlation function we find th
at the cross-correlation length r(0) obeys the simple relations: r(0)
= 8.8 (sigma/970)(1/2.2) Mpc and r(0) = 8.8 (T/4.8)(1/2.2) Mpc, where
sigma is in km s(-1) and T in keV.
