Abstract
We used two large, statistically complete Catalogs of radio sources, t he B3 (408 MHz) and the 87GB (4850 MHz), to study spectral index distr ibution versus flux density. We derived the relation spectral index-fl ux density in the range 30-4000 mJy (408 MHz) and we introduced a new definition of average spectral index of a radiosource population. We f ound that there is no evidence of any change in the average spectral i ndex within the above-mentioned flux range, and that the sky distribut ion of spectral index is isotropic.
