Abstract
2-Hydroxyethylhydrazine reduces Tc(VII) to Tc(IV) with formation of Te Cl5- ions. The rate of this reaction in HCl solution obeys the equatio n -d[Tc(VII)]/dt = k[Tc(VII)][HOC2H4N2H4+](0.9)[H+](1.4), where k = (8 .75+/-0.46) x 10(-3) 1(2.3) mol(-2.3) min(-1) at 25 degrees C and mu = 3.1. The reaction mechanism is similar to that of the reaction of Tc( VII) with unsubstituted hydrazine.
