Abstract
A method based on the intrinsic viscosities of transfer of polymers in pure and ''mixed'' solvents has been proposed to study the miscibilit y of polymer blends. Using this approach, blends of polystyrene with p olyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl acetate and vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer have been found to be immiscible. Also blends of polyvinyl c hloride with poly(n-butyl methacrylate) are found to be miscible. Conc lusive support has been obtained from thermal analyses studies of the blend films. Chee's method has been found to give unreliable results f or the blends studied.
