Abstract
A method is described for the determination of the Gd content in liqui d scintillators, based on detection of X-rays emitted after neutron ca ptures on Gd. A sensitivity of similar to 10 ppm of Gd by weight (for Gd concentration of similar to 100 ppm) and similar to 50 ppm (for Gd concentration of similar to 1000 ppm) is achieved in a short measureme nt time, with modest equipment available in most physics laboratories.
