Abstract
Deprotonation-alkylation of n-alkyl cyanides can be readily effected b y an alkyl halide in the presence of sodium in a one pot procedure. Yi elds are generally better than in the usual methods, and the overall r eaction conditions have important advantages in terms of ease and simp licity compatible with preparative scale-up.
