Abstract
Using an additive model, this paper distinguishes between the 'pseudo- cooperative', the 'self-centered' cooperative and the 'change-oriented ' cooperative. It is argued that the first two types constitute 'devia nt' cases whose frequent recurrence may distort the image of the norma tive cooperative pattern and undermine proclaimed objectives of partic ipatory development.
