Abstract
A serum biochemical profile is a group of chemical assays that are use d to analyze biochemical constituents of serum. Interpretation of the results requires an understanding of what is actually measured by an a ssay and knowledge of the pathophysiologic conditions that occur in an imals. Interpretative information is presented for the following serum analytes: urea, creatinine, glucose, total protein, albumin, globulin s, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, bilirubin, cholesterol, trigl yceride, sodium. potassium, chloride, total carbon dioxide content, as partate transaminase, lactate dehydrogenase, alanine transaminase, alk aline phosphatase, y-glutamyltransferase, creatine kinase, amylase, an d lipase.
