Abstract
Bacterial isolates of different capabilities influenced the developmen t of vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizal infection in the roots of maize cultivated in a hydroponic system. The introduced bacteria influenced different parameters of infection and the effect was specific for the bacterial isolate used. Two phosphate solubilizers and a bacterial chi tin decomposing isolate increased the abundance of arbuscules in the r oot cortex.
