Polymerization of epichlorohydrin (ECH) and propylene oxide (Po) on th
e BF3 . THF-diol catalystsystem was studied. F-19 NMR spectroscopy sho
wed that BF3 exists in the system as a complex with electron-donating
species of any type. The mechanism of formation of oligomeric diols in
chain-transfer reactions with detachment of BF3 was proposed.
