A structural investigation by X-ray diffraction on a tetrazene derivat
ive, the N, N'-azo-3-azabicyclo[3, 3, 0]octane, shows that this compou
nd crystallizes in the triclinic system with space group P (1) over ba
r. The unit-cell corresponds to a centro-symmetrical C14H24N4 formula
unit, the volume of which is 351.1 Angstrom(3). Data processing by dir
ect methods reveals that the geometry of the molecule presents a cis c
onfiguration for the bicyclic bridgelink and a trans one for the azo g
roup.
