Abstract
Bone marrow transplantation (BMT) is widely used in the treatment of m yelodysplastic disorders and leukemia. Despite improvements in patient management, infection as a consequence of the immunodeficiency states that follow BMT remains a significant cause of morbidity and mortalit y. This article provides an overview of the major infections after BMT with an emphasis on new developments in diagnosis, treatment, and pro phylaxes that have occurred in recent years.
