G. Kahaly et al., PREVALENCE OF MYXOMATOUS MITRAL-VALVE PRELAPSE IN PATIENTS WITH LYMPHOCYTIC THYROIDITIS, The American journal of cardiology, 76(17), 1995, pp. 1309
In patients with lymphocytic thyroiditis, prevalence of myxomatous mit
ral valve prolapse was markedly increased compared with a large contro
l group (36% vs 8%, p = 0.002). Thus, physicians should look carefully
for myxomatous involvement of the cardiac valves and prolapse in pati
ents with autoimmune thyroid diseases.
