Abstract
In patients with lymphocytic thyroiditis, prevalence of myxomatous mit ral valve prolapse was markedly increased compared with a large contro l group (36% vs 8%, p = 0.002). Thus, physicians should look carefully for myxomatous involvement of the cardiac valves and prolapse in pati ents with autoimmune thyroid diseases.
