Pk. Mishra et al., SYNTHESIS OF SILICON-CARBIDE FROM RICE HUSK IN A PACKED-BED ARC REACTOR, Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 78(9), 1995, pp. 2381-2384
Silicon carbide in the form of powder was prepared from boiler burnt r
ice husk in a new type of packed bed are reactor where the raw materia
ls were processed in briquette form, X-ray diffraction analysis identi
fied the presence of both beta and alpha SiC. Microstructural characte
rization revealed the presence of triangular, truncated triangular, an
d hexagonal crystallites, along with platelets.
