To reveal a potential effect of acoustic noises on fish behavior, the
sound pressure levels and spectral. composition of noises have been me
asured and a hydroacoustic survey has been carried out at areas where
gas pipelines cross over rivers. It is shown that noise levels signifi
cantly exceed the threshold sensitivity of the lateral-line acoustic s
ystem in fish. The potential effect of noises on migratory behavior of
fish is discussed.
