The first definitively characterised macropolyhedral carbaborane speci es, neutral [(Bu(t)NH(2))CB17H18(CN)], is isolated from the products o f the reaction between [anti-B18H22] and Bu(t)NC in CH2Cl2; the struct ure is based on the [anti-B18H22] type of macropolyhedral cluster, wit h an amine-substituted carbon atom occupying the 9-position in one sub cluster,
