Abstract
Polycrystalline CaAl2S4 was deformed in static N-2 at temperatures of 955-1042 degrees C. Steady-state creep occurred by diffusional flow. T he steady-state strain rate, epsilon, could be expressed as epsilon = A(sigma - sigma(0))(1).0 +/- 0.05 exp(-300 +/- 100 kJ mol(-1)/RT) wher e A is a constant, sigma the steady-state stress, sigma(0) the thermal ly activated threshold stress, R the gas constant and T the absolute t emperature. The deformation mechanism and activation energy are simila r to those observed for similar oxides.
