The radiation properties of a dielectric sphere with biaxial anisotrop
y are investigated. The excitation source is assumed to be an elementa
ry dipole of arbitrary orientation illuminated at the centre of the an
isotropic sphere. The primary field is defined and computed in terms o
f the convenient spherical vector wave functions, by solving the wave
equation in the phase space. The boundary conditions at the sphere sur
face are satisfied and following the method of moments, Fourier series
and spherical vector wave functions series are employed to express th
e unknown reflected and scattered fields at the sphere inner and outer
region respectively. Although main emphasis is given to theoretical a
nalysis, some numerical results are computed and presented.
