Abstract
Certain processes occurring in the northern part of the permafrost zon e pose hazards for construction. These include cryogenic landslides. T hree types are discussed for the Yamal Peninsula: shearing slides (act ive layer detachment failures), ground ice slumps, and earth flows. Th e first prevail in size and number.
