Abstract
Reaction of (C(5)Me(5))(C(5)Me(4)CH(2))TiCl and (2 -methylallyl)MgBr l eads to (eta(5)-C(5)Me(5))[eta(5):eta(2)-C(5)Me(4)CH(2) CMe(CH2)(2)]Ti (2), a bent metallocene complex wherein a four-membered metallacycle is tethered to a tetramethyl Cp ligand by a methylene bridge. Thermoly sis of 2 gives a new fulvene compound: )CH(2))(eta(5):eta(1)-C(5)Me(4) CH(2)CMe(2)CH(2))Ti (4).
