Abstract
Control of quality remains a major challenge in software project manag ement Although there has been some research in the management of softw are development projects, very few studies have investigated the manag ement and control of the quality of the software created, especially i n large-scale development projects. During the development of OS/400 R .1 at IBM Corporation, thousands of programmers were involved in writi ng and refining millions of lines of code. Such an effort would fail w ithout good software quality management. Using measurement derived fro m the literature, this study was able to verify the high quality of th e OS/400 software based on rigid quality assurance strategies used in the project.
