Photoluminescence spectra have been studied in CuAlS2 single crystals
doped with a series of rare-earth ions grown by the chemical vapor tra
nsport technique. Several sharp emissions originated from electronic t
ransitions between the L-S coupling terms of 4f-shell originated multi
plets have been observed for Tb3+, Tm+ and Ho3+ ions in CUAlS2 host, w
hereas the spectra of Ce- and Sm-doped crystals showed no significant
difference from the undoped crystals.
