Abstract
An analysis based on the Walkley-Black method is a rapid and effective means for determining the organic carbon, elemental carbon and total organic carbon content of urban aerosol samples collected on glass fib re and teflon-backed glass fibre filters, The estimated accuracy of th e method is + 18%, -33% and -8% for OC, EC and TOC, respectively, the precision is +/-7%, +/-21% and +/-4%, and the detection limit 0.33 mu g m(-3), 0.54 mu g m(-3) and 0.29 mu g m(-3).
