Single crystals of CuAlS2 were grown by the chemical vapour transport
using iodine as a transporting agent and doped by the elements Zn, Cd
and Hg in the growth process or in atomosphere of vapour. The cathodol
uminescence investigations of annealed samples at the temperatures 77
and 300 K allowed to determine the recombination mechanism. The outloo
k of this material for light-emitting devices is presented.
