IMAGING TECHNIQUES IN EXPERIMENTAL NEUROL OGY

In the following multiparametric imaging techniques used in experiment al neurology will be described which allow the simultaneous regional m easurement of physiological, biochemical and morphological parameters. A few examples will be presented to demonstrate physiological and pat hophysiological cerebral processes. During functional activation a clo se functional coupling between cerebral function, blood flow and gluco se metabolism exists. Perfusion-related pathomechanisms in experimenta l focal cerebral ischemia will be discussed.
