The electron dynamics in electric and magnetic fields in a channel wit
h bounded electron drift and with extended accelerating region is nume
rically investigated. The calculational results exhibit typical proper
ties of electron trajectories and their dependence on the parameters o
f electromagnetic fields, on initial electron state, and on random par
ameters that govern reflections from the channel walls. By averaging o
ver a sufficiently large number (N = 5000) of electron trajectories, s
ome average quantities are obtained that are determined by electron dy
namics. Among these are the ''mean electron lifetime'' in the channel
and the distribution of longitudinal electronic current over the lengt
h and cross section of the channel.
