Recent discovery of vibration sources in the cochlea might lead to imp
rovement of the classical acoustic cochlear models, which prove inadeq
uate with regard to the high selectivity measured in the ear. In this
respect, active control could give interpretations of active source wo
rk. Thus, a control of gain is proposed to increase reaction speed of
a harmonic oscillator. Physical interpretation and nonlinear effects o
f the control are discussed as cochlear mechanisms.
