Abstract
A thick tephra formation erupted by the crater Sfinta Ana and/or the c rater Mohos is dated at 10,700 +/- 180 yr BP by C-14-dating of charcoa l included in one of its pyroclastic flows. Morphological and sediment ological evidence in and around the crater is in agreement with the ob tained age. This result is particularly original, because according to current literature, the most recent eruption in the Carpathian volcan ic field was about 220,000 years old.
