The upper part of the limestones, the transitional beds and the format
ion of the Aetolian flysch (Nafpaktos), yielded foraminifera and palyn
omorphs of Upper Cretaceous and Paleocene to Middle-Upper Eocene respe
ctively. These biostratigraphic results lead to reattribution of the A
etolian flysch to its real palaeogeographic position in the Pindus-Olo
nos zone.
