Abstract
The thrust and backthrust of the Haouz Mountains result from the westw ard migration of the Internal Betic-Rif Zones, being practically stopp ed at the end of the Burdigalian by the Flysch nappes situated in a mo re external position. We interpret the backthrusts as being encapuchon nement (antiformal stack) phenomena.
