Abstract
Many geological, biostratigraphical and chronological studies on the G uadix-Baza depression in the south of the Iberian Peninsula have been conducted. Nevertheless, the age of palaeontological sites in the Orce region (Granada) inside this depression, is still a matter of confusi on for the international scientific community. In this work, we presen t the new biostratigraphical and magnetostratigraphical data from the Orce region, which permit us to place the limit of the Olduvai event. The presence of human remains (Gibert et al., 1989 a, b, d, and 1994 i n litt.), and artefacts (Gibert et al., 1992 d) in these series (figur e), makes a correct dating necessary.
