In this work, luminescence and electroconductivity of single crystals
of the X-ray storage phosphor, BaFBr:Eu2+, have been measured in situ
and real time during X-irradiation and photostimulation. A difference
in the time dependence between luminescence and electro-conductivity i
s observed. It is also found that their temperature dependence is diff
erent. It is concluded that the mechanism of photostimulated luminesce
nce proposed by Takahashi et al. [1] and Iwabuchi et al. [8, 9], in wh
ich during X-irradiation Eu2+ ions are ionized to Eu3+ ions and during
photostimulation electrons of F centers are stimulated by visible lig
ht to the conduction band, is questionable.
