Ma. Khaled et al., ELECTRICAL AND OPTICAL-ABSORPTION STUDIES OF PVA DOPED WITH COCL2 ANDNICL2, Journal of materials science. Materials in electronics, 6(6), 1995, pp. 424-426
Electrical resistivity and optical absorption of PVA doped with both C
oCl2 and NiCl2 have been studied. It was found that the conduction was
mainly ionic in nature between 20 and 120 degrees C. The resistivity
decreased with an increase in the nickel content, indicating the role
of transition metal ions. The compensation law was found to be valid f
or the investigated samples. Optical absorption spectra were obtained
in the range 4000-50 000 cm(-1) and analysed in terms of d-d transitio
ns. It is concluded that nickel is in the divalent state and is ionica
lly co-ordinated. Moreover, nickel is acted upon by an octahedral symm
etrical field.
