The complete sequence of a 11,132 bp segment located on the left arm o
f chromosome VII of Saccharomyces cerevisiae has been determined and a
nalysed. Eight open reading frames (ORFs) of at least 100 amino acids
were identified. Five show similarities to known amino acid sequences.
Another ORF encoding the chromosome segregation protein CSE1 is not e
ntirely located in our sequenced fragment and is incomplete at its C-t
erminus. The two remaining ORFs do not display similarities to known s
equences. The sequence has been deposited in the EMBL Data Library und
er Accession Number Z49149.
