Ym. Mo et al., PHOTOPHYSICAL PROCESSES OF SOME CARBAZOLE DERIVATIVES, Journal of photochemistry and photobiology. A, Chemistry, 92(1-2), 1995, pp. 25-27
The photophysical properties of phenylcarbazole (PHCz), alpha-naphthyl
carbazole (alpha-NACz), beta-naphthylcarbazole (beta-NACz) and N-(3-py
ridyl)-carbazole (PyCz) were studied. alpha-NACz and beta-NACz exhibit
twisted intramolecular charge transfer fluorescence in polar solvents
. The fluorescence of the carbazole derivatives can be quenched by ele
ctron donors and accepters, and the quenching effects follow the Stem-
Volmer equation. The existence of exciplexes is observed between the c
arbazole derivatives and electron accepters, such as p-dicyanobenzene,
dimethylterephthalate and benzanilide.
