Abstract
Anxiety disorders are among the most prevalent psychiatric disorders i n the elderly. Few systematic studies of their course and treatment, h owever, have been performed in this patient population. This article s ummarizes the available information in the field and discusses its cli nical relevance. The article also presents a systematic way of assessi ng and managing anxiety in the elderly and raises questions for future research.
