Superconductively jointed silver-sheathed Bi-2212 tapes have been fabr
icated. Two types of superconducting joint were made, a side joint and
a centre joint, where two separated tapes were connected to each othe
r at both ends or at the centre of an additional intermediate tape, re
spectively. The centre joint technique is more promising than the side
joint one. However, a very small gap between the two connected tapes
is required for realizing the high critical current in the jointed par
t, even in the centre joint case, in which the critical current in the
jointed part is higher than that in the jointless part.
