Abstract
Combrestastatin D-1, (2), was synthesized via a 12 step sequence. Shar pless asymmetric dihydroxylation was used in order to introduce the ap propriate asymmetry. Regiospecific cyclodehydration of the diol 3 gave the title compound in 96% ee.
