Cf. Lin et al., SPECTRUM ANALYSIS OF MAJOR PHYSICHEMICAL SOIL PROPERTIES AND SOIL SERIES OF ARABLE LANDS IN TAIWAN, Zhonghua nongxue huibao, (168), 1994, pp. 100-115
Based on the soil survey results, this study analyzed the distribution
s of three major soil physichemical properties, and the major soil ser
ies of the arable land in Taiwan. The purposes were of providing infor
mation on soil resources, and of better applications of soil survey re
ports, in terms of soil sampling and the layouts of field experiments
for agricultural research. The soil properties included soiltexture, d
rainage, and surface soil pH. A established computer information syste
m, named Taiwan Agricultural Land Resources Integrated System (TALRIS)
, mapped the distributions and caculated the areas of each attribute,
and then analyzed the combinational categories of every two properties
and the three ones all together. Finally the largest ten soil series
occupied about a quarter of the total arable land, showed their import
ance in land resources conservation and management.
