Lc. Robinson et al., FAMILY-STRUCTURE AND INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIP QUALITY IN YOUNG-ADULTS, Journal of divorce & remarriage, 23(3-4), 1995, pp. 23-43
The purpose of this study was to examine the extent to which selected
personal, interpersonal, and family characteristics were related to in
terpersonal relationship quality of young adults. Hierarchical multipl
e regression analysis was used to test the research hypotheses. Relati
onship anxiety, family adaptability, and the ability to manage interpe
rsonal conflict effectively were found to be significantly related to
interpersonal relationship quality. At higher levels of anxiety, young
adults from divorced families had significantly lower levels of inter
personal relationship quality than their peers from intact families. I
mplications for further research and practice are discussed.
