The paper addresses the application of the Dempster-Shafer, fuzzy reas
oning and backpropagation neural networks, to data fusion for automati
c target recognition using three knowledge sources: a continuous wave
(CW) coherent (X band) radar, which provides high-resolution doppler s
ignature measurements, together with a surveillance radar, which provi
des positional information of airborne targets, and apriori informatio
n of flight times of targets flying regular flight paths, obtained fro
m Adelaide Airport flight time tables. A comparison is then made betwe
en the three data-fusion techniques, on the trial data obtained.
