The properties of weak hydrogen-bonded complexes composed of simple hy
dride molecules of the elements of the second and third rows (PH3, AsH
3, H2S, and H2Se) are reviewed. The results of theoretical methods (ab
initio calculations) and experimental analyses (molecular beam microw
ave spectroscopy, IR matrix isolation spectroscopy, and IR spectroscop
y in conventional and cryosolutions) are used. The spectroscopic, stru
ctural, and energetic features of hydride-water and hydride-ethanol H-
complexes measured directly in hydrides are discussed.
