It has been shown that the scale measured through Bose-Einstein correl
ations (BEG) reflects an intrinsic scale of the order of the meson Com
pton wavelength. In heavy-ion collisions however, the radii of the pio
n emission region obtained are close to the effective nuclear radius o
f the lighter nucleus. We show that BEC in a multifragmentation pictur
e of heavy-ion collisions is compatible with the two facts and that it
is therefore possible to use Bose-Einstein interference to obtain a g
eometrical description in this kind of reactions. We outline the possi
bility to use Bose-Einstein correlations to learn something about mult
ifragmentation.
