THE PROJECT OF AN EXOTIC BEAM FACILITY IN GRENOBLE (PIAFE)

The PIAFE Project at Grenoble foresees the production of n-rich isotop es at the ILL high flux reactor vis the thermal neutron induced fissio n of U-235, the transport of the 30 keV 1(+) beam to the ISN 2 cyclotr on SARA complex and the acceleration of the particles to energies abov e the Coulombs barrier. Phase I of the project is concerned with the I LL installation. Estimates of production of exotic isotopes are presen ted and possible experiments using the 30 keV beam at the ILL side are outlined.
