STABILIZATION OF AN ATOM BY THE FIELD OF LASER-RADIATION

Physical phenomena which appear on the photoionisation of an atom by a laser radiation field are considered. Results of theoretical investig ations made by various methods are described. A new effect of stabilis ation of an atom is under consideration. This effect consists of the d ecrease of the photoionisation rate with an increase in the super-inte nse field strength at a fixed radiation frequency. Some experimental d ata for observation of the stabilisation effect are discussed.
