Pa. Lambert et al., CONSTRAINED OPTIMIZATION OF NACELLE SHAPES IN EULER FLOW USING SEMIANALYTICAL SENSITIVITY ANALYSIS, Structural optimization, 10(3-4), 1995, pp. 239-246
The problem of aerodynamic shape optimization in Euler flow is address
ed. B-splines are used for parametrization of the shape. Cheap gradien
t calculation is obtained via sensitivity analysis and the solution of
an adjoint equation; pseudo second-order spatial accuracy is achieved
by means of a semianalytical formulation. As a validation of the appr
oach, several inverse and constrained optimization test problems are p
resented with emphasis on civil engine nacelle design. The handling of
nondifferentiable quantities (such as maxima) in cost functions is al
lowed for via the use of the Kreisselmeier-Steinhauser function.
