K. Natarajan et al., CHARACTERISTICS OF NACL STRESS ASSOCIATED PROTEINS OF RHIZOBIUM UNDERVARYING CULTURAL CONDITIONS, Journal of basic microbiology, 35(6), 1995, pp. 413-420
Sodium chloride stress results in the possible induction of high molec
ular weight proteins and elevated levels of already existing proteins.
These proteins are cytosolic and acidic in nature and are not induced
by hear stress. It appears that the cell envelope in DDSS 69 may play
a limited role in osmotolerance. Osmoprotectants betaine and glutamat
e have differential effects on the stress proteins at elevated osmolar
ities.
