Abstract
Myxomas are the most common type of primary heart tumors. Surgical rem oval is routinely recommended due to the potential embolic phenomena. Dynamic three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography using a com puter-controlled probe that acquires parallel tomographic slices was e mployed for preoperative assessment of a left atrial myxoma in a 59-ye ar-old female. In comparison to conventional two-dimensional transesop hageal echocardiography dynamic three-dimensional transesophageal echo cardiography was more informative. Dynamic three-dimensional transesop hageal echocardiography is shown to be more useful in planning cardiac surgery.
