Abstract
In this paper a review is given of the life cycle of cyathostomes and of the pathogenesis and the clinical symptoms of cyathostominosis in h orses. Some remarks are given about the treatment and the prevention. Since the arrested larval stages of these small strongyles are less su sceptible to anthelmintics, they are the main problem in controlling g astro-intestinal parasites in horses. Therefore, the prevention of acc umulation of these larval stages is essential.
