Abstract
The germaimines RN=GeH2 [where R = CF3 and (CF3)(2)NO], synthesised by methods involving condensation reactions of GeH4 with CF3NO and (CF3) (2)NONO respectively, underwent addition reactions with HI to give RNH GeH(2)I and stepwise substitution reactions with (CF3)(2)NO to afford the derivatives RN=GeH[ON(CF3)(2)] and RN=Ge[ON(CF3)(2)](2), together with a quantitative amount of(CF3)(2)NOH These nitroxy derivatives hav e been found to undergo cleavage reactions with HCl to give the corres ponding chloro derivatives, namely RN=GeCl[ON(CF3)(2)] and RN=GeCl2.
